Mommy, Me and a Pony is not just for "mommies." Any parent, grandparent or guardian is welcome to attend. Adult/child teams will work together as they learn how to brush their horse, put the saddle on and give commands for whoa, go and turn while riding. Riders will expand their experiences to include trot practice and rein handling. Activities include riding bareback (optional) and independent riding in the obstacle course. Riding objective is to walk and trot independently while demonstrating proper riding technique. Riding a horse improves the skills of balance, coordination, forethought, empathy and the control of one's own emotions. Rocky Branch horses are generous, patient and sweet-natured. Riders will demonstrate their new skills for family and friends on the last day of class and be presented with a rosette ribbon. This is a 3-week class with the 4th week free or used as a make-up class. Class size is limited to 6.

Aikido is a relatively modern Japanese martial art. Its meaning is often translated as “The Way of Harmonizing Energy”. Aikido can be practiced by people of all ages, with varying levels of athletic ability, as its emphasis is not on “winning” or overpowering ones partner. Its techniques are powerful yet focus on protecting the attacker from injury. Aikido is especially great for children as it teaches focus, respect and discipline in addition to the physical benefits of strength, balance and body coordination.
